As I had said previously that I have now started running and that is giving me immense joy, I did another 10 miles today. Took some snaps while I ran on the tarmac-laden roads of Dehra Doon. Today was a big day in the state of Uttarakhand as the assembly election results were declared today the BJP won by a landslide. My walks take me across the BJP local office in the city situated at Balbir Road. There was a celebration going on as people burst firecrackers and drums were played the saffron brigade was out in full pop and glory. People danced as VVIP enters the gates of the party office. There were security personnel and black cat commandos all over the place escorting the cars that drove across the road. It was pandemonium as street urchins did the bhangra and the sky lit up with sparks of firecrackers.
The BJP is in power in the state and large cutouts of Modi droned the walls of the state office, the party has won four states out of five today and it was the big win in UP that has put the feather in the cap for its party workers.
I stopped to make a video and take some pictures, I wanted to soak in the celebrations for a while as I sipped water from my bottle the police gains pushed me to the side as caravans of one big politician after another drop into the large white gates of the BJP local office.
I have been spending about four hours a day just walking and doing yoga these days and I feel just fine. I hope to continue my routines till I hit my final goal which is yet very far off. I want to be 74 kg with a BMI of 25 by the time I finish and that will still take some time, but till then enjoy some pictures and videos of my exercise schedule.
Continue ReadingNow in the fifth month of my weight loss program, I have started jogging and even running as I go about pounding the roads of Dehra Doon. I get a tremendous burst of energy when I Strat running and I do it in a measured manner, I run for one minute or so and then walk ten minutes and I keep repeating that as I go along. I use the stopwatch of my mobile to time my short bursts of running and jogging as I go along my daily brisk walks even today I managed to cover 17 km along with that I do half an hour of yoga mat exercises that include a set of 35 stomach lunches and a set of fifty dumbness exercising that include chest expansions and curls. I Do a set of twenty leg-up crunches as I finish my routine. That’s a dedicated three-and-a-half-hour of exercising every day. I feel very energetic as the night before going to bed and feel this was the best trip in life it is such a high and so exhilarating. I kick myself for not getting into a daily exercise routine before.
The benefits are many folds my breathing has improved and my BPM for my heart has become very normal there is a general air of well-being within me and the sweat I break out during my runs revitalizes me immensely. I was never into fitness and have always been overweight so for me, this is a new feeling I had been carrying 25 kg of extra weight for over a decade but now I feel light having shed eight kilos.
With my jogging and intermittent running, I hope to get even more fit and lose weight at maybe a faster rate than the current 2 kg a month. But my goal is still distant I hope to be 72 kg by the end of this year there is still a long way to go as my current weight is 92 kilos. But I am enjoying each day as it comes and has learned to enjoy the process and not worry about the goal. My goal is distant and if I think too much about the finish line I will miss out on the process and the joy of getting fit and exercising. I have learned to enjoy the process of buying my own food experimenting with healthy food and enjoying more fruits and vegetables now than I used to before.
I jog and walk till 10;30 pm at night and sometimes later than that, it does take a lot of time from my daily schedule but I think it will be worth it in the long run if I have to hit my weight loss goal. Maybe I will add new exercises as I go along to spice things up for me, after all, one has to enjoy getting fitter. As I get fitter the need in me to exercise more has rekindled and that’s fun.
My sleep has improved and I get a much deeper sleep now than I used to, I wake up fresh and alive and feel like a feather compared to what I used to be. I eat dry fruits and pineapple or grapes after every exercise schedule as I am working out more now I need to make sure I have enough energy for it. I do not like protein shales and hate using supplements so I feast on dals, dates, and dry fruits instead to give me nourishment for my jogging and yoga mat exercise.
The night walks and jogs can get scary at times as I get chased by my hounds and dogs on the street, especially near dark alleys and road corners but I have learned to shoo them away and don’t get startled anymore. Some snaps for you to enjoy along with today’s dinner thali picture.
Continue ReadingThis is the first time I have managed to average 10 miles 16.2 km in the first week of March. I want to continue this average as I go along as that is the only way to accelerate my weight loss. As I said my weight loss had slowed down to 2kg a month or 0.5 kg a week. But with so much walking in the past four months where I average 10km per month the only way to increase my weight loss average I had to step up a few more notches and now I have decided to increase my monthly average to 16.1 km per month from a Monthly average of 10 km a month in the past.
Since I have already lost 8 kg from my past weight of 99.6 kg I feel much lighter and fitter my breathing has improved immensely and I move much faster than I used to. I am now able to run also during my walks and run for 2min before stopping and then I run again repeating the cycle slowing down when I need to catch my breath, but running is not an issue now and comes very naturally. As I go along I will increase the running time also, I am getting the runner high now and enjoying it.
The issue is that I need to give at least three and half hours every day if I want to achieve my goal as I do dumbness and yoga mat exercises with the 10-mile walk. That takes away a large chunk of my time which is alright for me as of now as my writing load is not much.
Just took my blood pressure which is normal 125/87 and my heart rate is 96 BPM which is good I will try to get that to 80 BPM through exercise. That said my mood is elated and my mental health has improved immensely. The hormones released when I jog give me a feeling go elation and I feel breezy it’s like a minty feeling on my skin. I never felt this way as I have never been much of a fitness fan as such, so this was a refreshing feeling. My waistline has also shrunk considerably now with all the walking and exercising.
Climbing steps is not a chore anymore and I am able to breeze through a flight of stairs now first I sued to wobble while climbing stairs now it’s easy. My posture has improved and my back is straighter I don’t slouch anymore and my body movements are much faster, my reflexes have improved, and feel fresh and light throughout the day. It’s amazing what fitness and exercise can do to your overall health and mental well-being. I urge everyone to go for it and at least walk and jog for an hour every day religiously, just add it to your routine. Chuck your cars and bike for a road cycle and do your daily chores by walking or biking.
My weight is 91.5 kg now and I feel much younger and sharper now the ever before. Some snaps of my luck thali for you to enjoy and ponder on how you will get fit.

Continue ReadingI have lost more than eight kilo’s now its been 20 weeks of my fitness regime and I am loving it. I keep taking a peek at my mobile phone app from time to time I have been averaging now 15 km for the last two weeks and it feels great. My breathing has changed completely I am able to breathe more easily and it’s getting easier for me to put on my socks and shoes when I was obese It would take me ages to get my shoes on. I move more freely and with ease climbing stairs or just walking up a hill its a cakewalk now, there is no strain on the body or any shortness of breath, I have even started jogging now and run for two to three. Minutes before I stop and jog again.
I never realized that one day I would become, a fitness enthusiast, I have never been a fitness freak and although I use to go to the gym once in a while I was never into bodybuilding protein shakes or just jogging. My fitness was more like a walk in the park or around the street corner that was fitness for me though the last ten odd years I have been obese or overweight that’s more than 20% of my life span. Now, this eight-kilo reduction makes me feel so light as if I am someone new. My aim is to keep losing my fat till I start looking like the guy I used to be more than a decade back. Somehow I feel losing with and transforming my body will take me back ten years when I was in my early thirties and had just arrived in Mumbai city to become an acorn I want to be that Anuj Tikku who did the famous shock Laga Laga ad, That is my aim for getting into fitness.
I stand in front of the mirror just looking at myself and see my belly shrinking month on month it had taken 20 weeks but then any transformation that has to happen will take some time and I am willing to be patient. These few kilos of weight loss month on a month give me the motivation to keep doing till I hit my goal and who knows when I hit my weight loss goals I might still not stop and want to keep going on.
I could never realize that one-day fitness could become my drug but it has today, When I am out for my brisk walk and jogs I feel elated and feeling of well-being and upliftment. They say special hormones are released in the body called endorphins. Endorphin interacts with the brain neurons makes you feel light and uplift your mood they are high much like dopamine which is released when you smoke pot. Now I get that same high when I jog or do my yoga mat exercise. I have just replaced one high with another high. It’s funny really dope is banned and frowned upon by society but it releases the same hormones in the body when you exercise or jog. It’s the same high one society says is bad for you and the other is good for you, but at the end of the day, they do something to your brain. Now fitness cycling and yoga mat exercises are my new high. I never imagined ever In my life that I would become a fitness lover one day but I have now.
Continue ReadingRudra, a cop who knows it all (even before it happens sometimes) is living under the darkness of his past doings. The city is engulfed in the shadows of crime yet again and guess what, the world wants Rudra back! He is back and is upto saving days as the killers emerge every day out of thin air.
If the structure of Luther was this simple and the execution was similarly daily soap like, I am marking myself safe from watching it. Yes, that is what is working for me. If you still haven’t got it, Ajay Devgn marks his digital debut with the official adaptation of the acclaimed British show Luther.
Adapted for the Indian audience by Jay Sheela Bhansal and Upen Chauhan, Rudra at least doesn’t look like shows entirely copy-pasted and forced in a new landscape. The writing takes efforts to blend the story in an Indian feel as much as possible. But actually fails a bit in replicating Mumbai though. About that later.
The makers do take an effort in casting the actors. More than the lead actor, who already has a cop image and gets a more brutal extension to it, the supporting cast is gold. The villains moreover. The criminals get better with each passing episode. There is one who paints with the blood of his victims claiming it to be his. He is borderline cannibalistic. Another kills young women to compensate his void. So the intriguing part as for any show in Rudra is the bad men and there are many here.
Ajay Devgn gets to play an extension to his cop self. This is more Gangaajal cop with a swag than Singham. He is sharp enough to see things even before they happen. It might sound crazy and even look crazier on screen, but Devgn and his larger than life persona sells it, and I can already see many buying it. But someone please give our man a ton of lip balm, his chapped lips in the uncomfortably zoomed frames deserve it. Source
Ashwini Kalsekar is a surprise package. Her character has a command over Rudra and she plays it with honesty. This should be her testimony for filmmakers to give her substantial characters that make the audience realise she isn’t just an actor you hire to create a comic relief out of.
Atul Kulkarni’s character though goes under a 180 degree transformation, isn’t really sketched well. His transition is so random that it looks straight out of Milap Zaveri’s ‘rhyming digs’ universe and not taken from a British show.
KC Shankar gets the award of being the best bad man on the show. He plays a painter who paints with his blood and gets a kick by drinking other women’s blood. The actor plays his character with no limits. In a scene where he is talking to one of his victims, you see him on the verge of losing the last drop of sanity and I wish he at least had two episodes dedicated to him.
