“There are no cuts in the film, only a few modifications, which the makers discussed with the censor board members,” a source close to the project said”
New Delhi: Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie OMG 2 has been in the news ever since it was announced that the Censor Board will give the movie extra attention in order to prevent the negative press that Adipurush faced earlier this year. Despite the rumors, a person familiar with the production claimed that the comedy-drama with a social message had already been approved with just minor changes needed. OMG 2 has also been certified for adults. According to a person familiar with the production, “There are no cuts in the movie; only a few modifications, which the producers discussed with the censor board members.”
Speaking of the development, a person familiar with the project stated, “The committee was asking for a lot of cutbacks for a UA certificate. The filmmakers did not want to violate the film’s integrity. Therefore, they decided to proceed with an Adult certification while maintaining the integrity of the movie and also adhering to and honoring the censor board’s rules.
OMG, 2 will alter both the audio and the visual aspects of the game. The character of Akshay Kumar is one of the alleged modifications; in the finished product, he would supposedly be shown as a messenger of Lord Shiva rather than the god himself.
While the film was awaiting its certification, it was previously reported that the film’s release date might be shifted. As of now, the film is slated to hit the theatres on its original release date – August 11. After the film’s teaser release last month, the film was referred to the Revision Committee.
The trailer of OMG 2 has already been certified U/A but has not been released yet. OMG 2 is a social comedy-drama also featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam and Arun Govil. OMG 2 is written and directed by Amit Rai. It is the sequel to Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal’s 2012 film OMG – Oh My God. The first installment presented the story of Kanji Lalji Mehta (played by Paresh Rawal), who files a case against God for the destruction of his shop in an earthquake. The film also starred Mithun Chakraborty, Govind Namdev and late actor Om Puri in a special role.
The movie OMG 2 will hit theatres on August 11, 2023. At the box office, the movie will compete with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2. The same day had already been set aside for the release of Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor. However, the film’s producers have revealed that it will now open in theatres in December.
