Uma Gardens – Agartala
Tucked close to the grandeur of the Ujjayanta Palace stands a serene green space called Uma Gardens. It provides a calm and spiritual retreat from the bustling city centre. For visitors to Agartala seeking a blend of history, religious charm, and greenery, this is a hidden gem worth seeing.
A Glimpse of History and Spiritual Significance
The gardens, located around the temple area, offer a peaceful setting. Some local listings even refer to this place as Uma Park. It is a quiet area where people can come for contemplation and meditation. The garden, with its many shaded trees, gives travellers a welcome respite from the beating sun.
Uma Gardens
The best time to visit is early mornings or late afternoons, when the temperature is mild and the atmosphere is cooler. You can explore both the palace and Uma Gardens in a single outing since they are right next to each other. If you speak with local temple priests or fellow devotees, you may hear fascinating mythical stories and legends associated with the gardens.
Uma Gardens stands in contrast to the grand splendour of Ujjayanta Palace. While the palace reflects royal power and architectural magnificence, the gardens remind us that spirituality was also an integral part of Tripura’s royal life.
Just outside the gardens, there is a glowing sign that reads “I LOVE TRIPURA.” Naturally, I couldn’t resist getting myself photographed in front of it!
Till then, enjoy the pics…
