They say that when God has a plan, all other plans fail. I had originally decided to book myself for another two nights at the Devka Lodge in Daman. The plan was also to take a detour to Dadra and Nagar Haveli. It was Vidhani who came up with the new idea.

“Sir, India has won the semi-final. We are in the finals, which are happening in Ahmedabad. Tickets are available in black. Should I try? Great chance, sir — a lifetime experience,” he said ecstatically.

This was an adventure that sounded very exciting. I had still not paid for my two-day stay, so we could head for Ahmedabad in the afternoon.

“Par ticket ka kya? Mil jayega?” I asked, not sure if we would be able to get tickets.

“Main sab arrange kar dunga. Mera bahut jugaad hai,” my driver said confidently.

I must say I have had great support from this wonderful driver. Vidhani is street-smart and, what’s more, he loves his job. He enjoys driving and is very familiar with the state. Not only that, he is well connected across states as well.

“Next Madhya Pradesh, but before that give me half an hour. I will see if we can get the tickets,” he said.

The driver then got busy arranging tickets for the India vs New Zealand T-20 World Cup final.

Meanwhile, I got busy enjoying the views of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. When we reached back at our hotel, Vidhani gave me the good news.

“Sir, I can get the tickets, but the cost is high in black — around ₹30,000. Are you ready? We can move towards the stadium now,” Vidhani asked.

“Okay, let’s do it. Let’s get going. No need to stay in Daman anymore — let’s move to Ahmedabad,” I said.

I was excited. This was going to be fun. My grand tour of Gujarat would end with me watching a T-20 match — and that too with India in the final. This was going to be something big, a grand ending and finale to my Gujarat excursion.

So we started early in the afternoon and began driving toward our new destination — the T-20 World Cup final. I was really looking forward to it and was thrilled that we had managed to get the tickets. I paid for them online, and they would be delivered to me soon.
