A Journey Through Time: My Visit to Auto World Vintage Car Museum, Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad never fails to surprise me. Just when I think Iโve explored its architectural marvels and spiritual landmarks, the city unveils another treasureโthe Auto World Vintage Car Museum. My visit to this iconic automobile museum felt less like a sightseeing trip and more like stepping into a glamorous chapter of royal history.
Located near Dastan Estate, the museum houses one of Indiaโs finest collections of vintage automobiles. The moment I entered the premises, I was greeted by a magnificent display of polished chrome, sweeping fenders, and classic curvesโeach car standing proudly as a relic of a bygone era.
Royal Wheels and Timeless Elegance
The collection, assembled by automobile enthusiast Pranlal Bhogilal, features some of the worldโs most celebrated marques. From Rolls-Royce and Bentley to Cadillac, Jaguar, and Mercedes-Benz, every car has a story to tell. What fascinated me most were the royal cars once owned by Indian maharajas. Some vehicles even featured customised details such as silver interiors and unique crests. Standing beside them, I could almost imagine the grandeur of royal processions and elite gatherings from decades past.
Vintage Car Museum, Ahmedabad
A Living Museum
Unlike many museums where artefacts remain locked behind barriers, the cars here are maintained in running condition. This makes the experience feel alive rather than static. Walking through rows of beautifully preserved machines, I admired the craftsmanshipโthe wooden dashboards, leather seats, elegant steering wheels, and detailed emblems. These cars werenโt just vehicles; they were masterpieces.
Photography and Atmosphere
The open, estate-like setting adds to the charm. The cars are displayed in a spacious compound surrounded by greenery, making it a perfect spot for photography. Every angle feels Instagram-worthyโvintage glamour meeting old-world sophistication.
Final Thoughts
My visit to the Auto World Vintage Car Museum was a refreshing change from temples and monuments. It reminded me that history isnโt only carved in stoneโsometimes, it runs on wheels. Ahmedabad continues to surprise me, and Iโm loving every discovery.
